Kevin Scott was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. Brother Scott is a 23 year-veteran Detective with the Chicago Police Department, the second largest police department in the United States. As a Detective since 2000, he has investigated homicides, sex crimes, various other violent crimes as well as burglaries, robberies and financial crimes. In addition, he was previously assigned as an Investigative Analyst, where he developed intelligence of violent crimes which occurred throughout the city of Chicago. Currently, he has investigates Youth Crimes in the area of Child Abuse, Child Neglect and Child Abandonment at Area South Detective Division.
Brother Scott has a Bachelors degree in Biology in the Pre-Medical curriculum from Chicago State University. He uses his experience in law to assist the Chicago Alumni Chapter’s Kappa League program by serving as an Advisor in the Law & Liberal Arts Academic Strand. Additionally, he serves this program as Director of Admissions & Academic Programs and has been involved for the past 7 years.
Kevin’s hobbies include traveling, reading and researching as a quest for knowledge. Kevin and his wife, Regina reside in Chicago with their teenage daughter, Kayla.
Brother Scott was initiated into the Chicago Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi on November 6, 1998. He has served in various capacities at Chicago Alumni Chapter, including: Member of the Spring Formal, Province 2000, Communication, Picnic, Kappa Kruise, Health & Wellness, Scholarship, Kappa League and Thanksgiving Soiree Committees. In addition, Brother Scott has served as Chairman of the following Committees: CAC 90th Anniversary, Health & Wellness, Achievement and MOIP. As Co-Chair of Chicago Alumni’s 2012 MOIP, he helped to create a robust program which resulted in Chicago Alumni Chapter’s MOIP class of initiates having the highest scores among all initiates throughout the NCP.
Brother Scott has also served the chapter by holding two offices simultaneously, Historian and Reporter. As Historian, he has recovered precious Kappa archives and preserved history by conducting video interviews of Past CAC Polemarchs. As Reporter, he has revitalized the chapter newsletter, the Kappa Kronicle and taken it to new heights. He also has previously held the NCP office of Historian and in that position, he was most well known for conducting two years of research which lead to the finding of new information regarding Founder Paul W. Caine’s burial place, his correct date, location and circumstances of his death. He also authored a directive which assists chapter Historians throughout the province to collect and preserve Kappa artifacts.
Brother Scott’s vision for the office of Historian is a more robust, vigorous search and acquisition of Kappa related items for preservation of posterity.
Brother Kevin Scott also currently serves as the Grand Historian of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Incorporated.
