Kappa League
Kappa League is an official auxiliary of the Fraternity’s Guide Right program, established in 1970 for the purpose of being the model for the educational, occupational, and social guidance of high school young men. Kappa League’s area of study includes one or more of the following phases:

Phase I – Self-identity (discipline, assurance, awareness, and appearance)

Phase II – Training (academic, career choice, preparation, and organization)

Phase III – Competition (politics, career advancement, and sports)
-
Phase IV – Social (religion, the arts, entertainment, conversation, communication, etiquette, and manners)
-
Phase V – Health education (physical fitness, sex education, drugs, and health and safety)
Various Kappa Alpha Psi alumni chapters maintain individual Kappa League programs.
Kappa League-Chicago (formally known as Kappa Leadership Institute-Chicago) is sponsored by the Chicago (IL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and its philanthropic arm, the Edward G. Irvin Foundation (a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization).
Kappa League-Chicago, led by Executive Director Melvin Flowers, Esq., is focused on providing academic/mentoring services for 9th to 12th-grade male students from various high schools in Chicago and the Chicagoland area. Our mission is to provide educational college readiness opportunities for economically disadvantaged and/or underrepresented minority males, primarily, African American high school youth. Particular focus is provided in the following areas of interest: Biological & Environmental Sciences, Business, Law & Liberal Arts, and S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)

Kappa League-Chicago has been serving as mentors to over +1K high school young men since 2003. The successes of our students demonstrate our results:

83% have ACT scores of 28+

100% are accepted to Tier 1 colleges/universities

56% receive full tuition scholarships

Guide Right
Guide Right is a national mentoring service program of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., established in 1922 for the purpose of providing vocational resources to male youth and inspiring them into successful pursuits. Various Kappa Alpha Psi alumni chapters maintain individual Guide Right programs.
Guide Right-Chicago is sponsored by the Chicago (IL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and its philanthropic arm, the Edward G. Irvin Foundation (a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization). Guide Right-Chicago, led by Director Dr. Ja’ami Dawan, is focused on providing guidance, mentoring, and tutoring, targeted at helping 4th to 8th-grade male and female students at Adam Clayton Powell Paideia Elementary School.
